A Coastal Resilience Center at Galveston
Discipline, history, culture, materiality, site, sustainability, form, and architecture. How do the internal and extenal forces balance out and shpe architecture? This project explored the role and potentiality of thickness and mass as an architectural catalyst for the realization of a Gulf coast wetlands “Coastal Resilience Center“ at Galveston.
The project, sited on the coastal line of Galveston, I envisioned it as a concrete viewing object. It’s quite opaque and thick so as to bear the extreme weather, while at the same time, has the dynamic quality and view of the natural landscape.
